Review: Roborock Q5+
The Q5+ makes a strong argument: why pay $1,100 for the S8 Pro Ultra if you mostly just need reliable daily vacuuming? The Q5+ brings the same PreciSense LiDAR navigation, the same multi-floor mapping, and the same app ecosystem — with a self-emptying dock — for $400. The trade-offs are lower suction (2,700 Pa) and no mopping.
Performance
2,700 Pa is sufficient for hardwood floors and low-to-medium pile carpet. In our tests, it handled pet hair, crumbs, and fine dust without hesitation. Dense shag carpet or thick rugs showed slightly more missed debris versus the S8, but for standard carpet it’s entirely adequate.
The LiDAR navigation is the same generation as Roborock’s flagships — mapping accuracy and room recognition are excellent. We consistently got thorough coverage with no stuck-in-corner incidents across 30 test runs.
Self-Empty Dock
The included dock holds 2.5L of debris — roughly 7 weeks of daily vacuuming for a typical apartment. Roborock uses bags in the dock (unlike some bagless competitors), which makes dust disposal cleaner. Replacement bags cost around $15 for a 3-pack.
Verdict
The Q5+ is the recommendation for buyers who want a capable, reliable robot vacuum without premium pricing. Skip it only if you need serious mopping or deep carpet extraction — then save more for the S8 series.
