Review: Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max
Blueair’s Blue Pure 311i Max occupies the premium design tier of air purifiers — Swedish engineering, fabric pre-filter customization, and the quietest CADR-per-decibel ratio in our comparison. If your air purifier needs to look good in a living room or bedroom, Blueair is the one you’d actually want visible.
HEPASilent Technology
Blueair’s proprietary HEPASilent system combines electrostatic charging with mechanical HEPA filtration. Particles are given a charge that makes them more likely to adhere to filter media — allowing the fan to move more air at lower speeds (hence lower noise) for a given CADR output. At 46 dB maximum and 21 dB minimum, it’s the quietest 330 CADR unit we’ve tested.
Performance
330 CADR comfortably handles 340 sq ft spaces. In our PM2.5 reduction tests, it performed comparably to the Coway Mighty despite moving less air at lower noise levels — the electrostatic assist compensates for the gentler airflow. For smoke and VOC removal, it added activated carbon in the filter stack.
App & Smart Features
The Blueair app provides real-time PM2.5, PM10, and VOC readings from the unit’s sensor. Auto mode is responsive and quiet — it rarely triggers above medium fan speed in normal residential conditions.
Verdict
The Blueair 311i Max is the recommendation when design and quiet operation are primary concerns. The Coway Mighty gives more CADR per dollar — but Blueair’s build quality, aesthetics, and noise profile justify the premium for living spaces.
